Junglehammer is the musical alter ego of keyboardist/producers James Guiney and Lindsay Page. Working from Yurtville Studios in Newtown under the moniker of "Yurtville Productions", Junglehammer is an underground recording outfit powered by the engine room of Joe Accaria and Dave Marsalis on drums, Ben Cripps and Hal Tupea on Bass and a four piece horn section led by saxophone legend Jason Morphett. Marty Hailey and Hugh Coffey combine to add rhythms and swirls as the guitar section.
Junglehammer's first self titled album, which received an impressive array of reviews, was a melting pot featuring eight of Sydney's finer singer/songwriters collaborating with Junglehammer's infectious grooves and melodies. The album showcased singers and bandleaders such as Dave Mason (The Reels), Linda Janssen (Wicked Beats Sound System), Dave Gleeson, (The Screaming Jets), Tony Hughes (King Tide), and jazz and soul diva's Lily Dior, Inga Liljestrom and Toni Mott. More recently Junglehammer reworked Paul McCartney's Live and Let Die and the Monty Gorman James Bond Theme for inclusion on Groovescooter's 007 reFashioned album.
Which leads us to Strange Fascination, Junglehammer's brand new album proudly released on Yurtville featuring the aforementioned engine room of Joe Accaria, Dave Marsalis, Ben Cripps, Hal Tupea, Jason Morphett. Marty Hailey and Hugh Coffey, the keyboards and arrangements of James Guiney and Lindsay Page with the incredible vocals of iOTA.
The album was recorded at Yurtville and the Sydney Opera House and mixed at Bob Scott's "Dodgy Sound" Studio. Once mixed, James Guiney took a brief journey to New York and played the album to an old friend, who also happens to be one of the world's most feted record producers, Steven Lillywhite. Lillywhite was somewhat enamoured with track 3, Love Gone Right, which he considered immensely radio friendly and shared his production tips and ideas for the track with James.
On Strange Fascination, Junglehammer and iOTA have co-written an album of smooth sophisticated grooves with compelling melodies married to the kind of melancholic and lascivious prose that are a trademark of iOTA's songwriting.

The combined keyboard trickery of James Guiney (The Screaming Jets, Bellydance, V.DUB) and Lindsay Page (Floyd Vincent, Paris Green, Bellydance) with the sampling wizardry of Martin White.
After pooling their creative juices for "Dub for The Masses 2" (CREATIVE VIBES) with the very filmic 'My life as a furry space beetle' ,White, Page and Guiney, (Jungle Hammer), have embarked on a new wave of musical symbiosis, creating infectious grooves and melodies for the seemingly endless pool of talented singer/songwriters that Sydney has on tap. Get on board.
Powered by the infectious engine room of Joe Accaria, drummer to the stars (Human Nature, David Campbell, Wendy Mathews)& Ben Cripps on Bass, (Human Nature, Paul Mac) and sweetened with the tasteful ebullience of Jason Morphett's reeds,(Tenor, Soprano and bassoon) and Alan Davies trumpet and Flugel Horn, this coalition of the thrilling has lassoed the singing and songwriting talents of some of Sydney's finest bandleaders, in fact some of Australia's most popular vocalists, with a heap of gold and platinum albums, as well as years of experience between them.
Dave Gleeson, for example, of hard rock legends- The Screaming Jets, whose immaculate stoned drawl gives "Trash from America" the right stuff. Another track steeped in atmosphere is "Desert Rain", in which actor Mark Bower gives Donald Rumsfeld's infamous "Known Unknown's" speech the perfect air of pompous absurdity. (Think William Burroughs "words of advice") Dave Mason reinterprets "Shout and Deliver" – a dearly loved classic from his old band The Reels -as a piece of skankin' mellow dub with Lester Young inspired Tenor Sax opulence by Jason Morphett. Then there's the girls.
JungleHammer have co-opted three of Australia's most acclaimed Jazz Divas in Lily Dior on the gorgeous "Skin to Skin", Toni Mott ( D.I.G., Paris Green) on" Summer", and Inga Liljestrom (also from D.I.G.), who brings an air of chilled Nordic beauty to two tracks, "Loveliness" and "Winter".
Add to this, the three vocalists from the infamous Bellydance. Tony Hughes, Linda Janssen and Charlie Maclean. Charlie ( 50 Million Beers ) and Linda (Wicked Beats Sound System) duet like only a real-life couple can on the quirky "Clever Guy", and Tony's aptly titled track " Sleep" is a hypnotic lullaby which brings closure to this most eclectic array.
Sit back, spark one up, and devolve with this cool sophisticated Dub inspired journey – JungleHammer's debut album.
